Richard Sheffield Memorial Scholarship
The Richard Sheffield Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of Richard ‘Dick’ Sheffield, former General Curator of the Parque Zoológico de León in León, Guanajuato, Mexico. Dick, who served for two years as a member of the Zoo Conservation Outreach Group (ZCOG) Board of Directors, was a committed conservationist, dedicated advocate for Mexican zoos and aquariums, and strong supporter ZCOG's efforts to build professional capacity in Latin American zoos and aquariums.
To celebrate and honor Dick's contributions to the development of professional capacity in Mexican zoos and aquariums, ZCOG, in partnership with Richard's family, friends and colleagues, created the Richard Sheffield Memorial Scholarship, which provides scholarship funding to help support the participation of Mexican zoo and aquarium personnel* in professional training program courses offered by Africam Safari in Puebla, Mexico.
The scholarship is made possible thanks to donations of the friends and family of Richard Sheffield.
