ZCOG
CONSERVATION TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP
An inadequately trained staff can limit the institutional development and conservation potential of many zoological facilities, particularly those in developing regions like Latin American and the Caribbean Basin. To address this need, in 2005 Zoo Conservation Outreach Group established the ZCOG Conservation Training Award to provide professional training opportunities to educators, curators, and biologists working in Latin American zoos and aquariums.
Award recipients receive full scholarship funding to participate in any one of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums’ (AZA) Professional Training courses. Employees or research associates of any Latin American zoo, aquarium, or conservation organization may apply. Preference is given to applicants demonstrating involvement in cooperative field conservation efforts with AZA member institutions or other regional partners.
