The San Antonio Zoo Les Whitt Memorial Award was created to honor the memory of
Robert Leslie “Les”
Whitt, former director of the Alexandria Zoological Park in Alexandria, Louisiana. The Award, which promotes advanced training in animal husbandry for zoo and aquarium colleagues from countries in Latin America and the Caribbean Basin, provides full scholarship funding to participate in the Association of Zoos & Aquariums’ (AZA)
Animal Training Applications professional training course. Employees or associates of Latin American zoological institutions or related facilities may apply. The San Antonio Zoo provides annual funding for this scholarship award.
