SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAMS OVERVIEW
ZCOG’s Conservation Training Scholarship Program supports biodiversity conservation by providing Latin American zoo and aquarium professionals with the opportunity to obtain the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to manage, protect, and preserve wildlife. Through this unique program, ZCOG and its partners provide financial assistance—in the form of scholarship awards—to help train Latin America’s future conservation leaders. Since 2000, the group has awarded over one hundred scholarships to individuals from fourteen different countries in Latin America and the Caribbean Basin. These awards have allowed Latin America’s next generation of conservation leaders to participate in international conferences, workshops, and training courses, including professional training program courses offered by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA). In addition, the scholarship awards have helped build the institutional capacity of zoos and aquariums in countries where the conservation need is most urgent.
Scholarships:
Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and cover all course participation costs, including registration fees, round-trip airfare, ground transportation, lodging, and meals. Eligibility requirements, application deadlines, and information about which scholarships can be applied to the different AZA professional training courses can be obtained by clicking on the above-listed individual scholarship links or consulting the Scholarship Quick Facts table at
