ZCOG’s International Conservation Training Scholarship Program provides funding to Latin American zoo and aquarium professionals interested in participating in international conferences, workshops, and training courses, such as the Association of Zoos & Aquariums Professional Training School. The program’s goal is to help build professional capacity in Latin American zoological institutions and assist in the training and development of the region’s future conservation leaders.
Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and typically cover registration and/or airfare and lodging costs. CLICK HERE for a detailed list of conferences, workshops, and training courses for which ZCOG offers scholarship funding.
Since 2000, ZCOG has provided nearly $100,000 dollars in scholarship funding to over 100 Latin American zoo and aquarium professionals from 14 different countries throughout the region. This funding has allowed our Latin American counterparts to participate in international conferences, workshops, and training courses, including AZA conferences and training schools. Recipients have included zoo veterinarians, curators, educators and keepers, as well as field biologists and park rangers.
Many ZCOG scholarship recipients have gone one to become directors of national zoological facilities, managers of governmental agencies, and recipients of prestigious international awards, such as the Rolex Award for Enterprise.
ZCOG’s International Conservation Training Scholarship Program is providing resources necessary to train the conservation leaders of today and tomorrow. To learn more about how you or your institution can help support this program please CLICK HERE.
